Winter School is Back! This site is a rare treat because it only appears once a year, for about 2 months. If you cannot find this site, you’ll have to wait until next year.
This site was originally designed and published in 2015 for the July Winter School. It allowed users to purchase tickets to various courses spread across a week during the July break at the University of Johannesburg. The 2016 iteration of the site was reasonably successful but for 2016 we decided to do better. The new Winter School includes shopping cart like functionality which allows users to book multiple tickets simultaneously and book multiple events then check out and pay for all the events at once, at the same time it can differentiate between free tickets offered to UJ students and staff and the paid tickets for the general public.
The design of the site changed a bit in order to best incorporate the new shopping cart and multi-ticket functionality as well as add more aesthetically pleasing elements to each of the 30 courses. All information is found on the landing page and all of the courses can be found and booked on a separate course page. The site also includes an idea we’ve been working with recently, which is a persistent shopping cart hidden inside a tab to the right of the page.
Winter School includes a payment gateway, which allows attendees to pay by various payment methods including EFT, credit card and even Bitcoin. Since we are collecting some user information on the site, any page that collects information is encrypted.
The website is also fully responsive, which means it adapts to the size of your screen, whether on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop.
