The Future UJ Portal was our first major UJ website. UJ, of course, is one of the leading public universities in South Africa, with over 50000 students enrolled at any time.
This website was designed as part of a marketing campaign to potential UJ students, namely Grade 9 to Grade 12 learners in South Africa. The site give students access to information they need when considering their options of what to study and where. The website employs an advanced user management system where users can sign up. Certain user content is only available to certain user groups.
Additionally, there are events hosted for these learners throughout the year. Future UJ Portal has a fully automated booking platform which allows registered users to book for appropriate events depending on their user type and issues digital tickets. Tickets can be verified at the door on the day of the event.
The original design was created by Hydra Media and then reworked again by Kusasa every year since. The 2017 design uses a clean and purposeful aesthetic.
The website is also fully responsive, which means it adapts to the size of your screen, whether on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop. This is very important when targeting youth, as mobile devices are more accessible than desktops or laptops.
This site is large and complex enough to stand alone in our software section, but clever use of available web frameworks and technologies kept it in the cost and time constraints of what we call a website.
